Kabarpendidikan.id History Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Muhammadiyah University of Prof. DR. HAMKA held a Summer Camp with theme Betawi Culture 2021 Carnival of Culture: “Introduction 8 Icons Culture Betawi”. This event will be held for 5 days from 18 and 21 until 24 June 2021. This summer camp attended by many foreign participants from Malaysia, Madagascar, Philippines, Timor Leste, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam and Pakistan.
Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Prof. DR. HAMKA, Prof. Dr. H. Gunawan Suryoputro, M.Hum open this Summer Camp by giving warm welcome to all of the Summer Camp participants. He very excited with this event and hope all the participants would come to Jakarta to enjoy the vacation when the pandemic was over.
Rector said, “ Jakarta as a capital city of Indonesia are rich of culture, I believe this events will introduce many culture of Jakarta, presented by expert and resourcesful person who knows about the culture of Jakarta. The interested point of this summer camp is that the participants will be deeply introduce to 8 icons of Betawi culture such as the traditional customs, traditional dance, cuisine, art and more. I hope all the participants enjoy this summer camp and by this summer camp you will learn many things about Betawi culture.”
This events moderated by Ms. Siwi (Lecturer of English Departement, UHAMKA) and Mr. Dr. Jumardi, M.Pd, a Betawi native as the speakers. Today event focus to discuss about music, language, traditional food and more culture of Betawi. All the participants excited with this topic especially about the traditional music of Betawi. They enjoy the traditional music instrument played by Sanggar Betawi Portal Menteng Dalam. In this event, Sanggar Betawi Portal Menteng Dalam played traditional music of Betawi such as Sirih Kuning, Jali-jali and Ondel-Ondel.
